Ils se produisent lorsque<\/strong> <strong>la Terre croise sur sa trajectoire les nuages de particules de poussi\u00e8res laiss\u00e9es par la <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/55P\/Tempel-Tuttle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">com\u00e8te 55P\/Tempel-Tuttle<\/a> lors de ses approches au Soleil.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Par Claude Grimaud<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les L\u00e9onides sont issues des d\u00e9bris laiss\u00e9s sur sa trajectoire par la com\u00e8te 55P\/Tempel-Tuttle. D&rsquo;une p\u00e9riode de 33 ans et 3 mois environ, L&rsquo;essaim m\u00e9t\u00e9oritique des L\u00e9onides tire son nom du fait que les \u00e9toiles filantes semblent provenir d&rsquo;un m\u00eame point du ciel (le radiant) situ\u00e9 dans la constellation du Lion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;inclinaison de l&rsquo;orbite de 55P\/Tempel-Tuttle par rapport au plan de l&rsquo;\u00e9cliptique est de 162.5\u00b0. Le d\u00e9placement de la com\u00e8te est donc r\u00e9trograde, et de ce fait, les particules rencontrent presque de front l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re terrestre, produisant des m\u00e9t\u00e9ores extr\u00eamement rapides (71 km\/s), g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement courtes. De nombreux m\u00e9t\u00e9ores sont tr\u00e8s lumineux et ont un \u00e9clat proche de la magnitude 0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s les temp\u00eates observ\u00e9es entre 1999 et 2002 qui \u00e9taient directement li\u00e9es au passage au p\u00e9rih\u00e9lie<a id=\"sdfootnote1anc\" href=\"#sdfootnote1sym\"><sup><strong>1<\/strong><\/sup><\/a> en 1998 de la com\u00e8te 55P\/Tempel-Tuttle, le niveau d&rsquo;activit\u00e9 des L\u00e9onides n&rsquo;a fait que d\u00e9cro\u00eetre progressivement. Cependant, malgr\u00e9 cette baisse sensible d&rsquo;activit\u00e9 au fil des ans, l&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat pour cet essaim est rest\u00e9 intact et les L\u00e9onides figurent parmi les essaims les plus beaux et les plus fascinants de l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/reperes-astro.fr\/%77%70%2d%63%6f%6e%74%65%6e%74\/uploads\/2024\/11\/leonid2015_orbitchart.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/reperes-astro.fr\/%77%70%2d%63%6f%6e%74%65%6e%74\/uploads\/2024\/11\/leonid2015_orbitchart.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14954\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reperes-astro.fr\/%77%70%2d%63%6f%6e%74%65%6e%74\/uploads\/2024\/11\/leonid2015_orbitchart.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/reperes-astro.fr\/%77%70%2d%63%6f%6e%74%65%6e%74\/uploads\/2024\/11\/leonid2015_orbitchart-300x113.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reperes-astro.fr\/%77%70%2d%63%6f%6e%74%65%6e%74\/uploads\/2024\/11\/leonid2015_orbitchart-768x288.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Malgr\u00e9 la Pleine Lune, un spectacle \u00e0 voir<\/span><\/strong> :<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Le plus r\u00e9cent passage au p\u00e9rih\u00e9lie de la com\u00e8te parent s&rsquo;est produit il y a maintenant plus de 20 ans, et entre-temps la com\u00e8te a effectu\u00e9 son passage \u00e0 l&rsquo;aph\u00e9lie<a id=\"sdfootnote2anc\" href=\"#sdfootnote2sym\"><sup><strong>2<\/strong><\/sup><\/a>. La connaissance des m\u00e9canismes d&rsquo;\u00e9jection des poussi\u00e8res et de l&rsquo;\u00e9volution des tra\u00een\u00e9es de particules a permis de pr\u00e9voir et de v\u00e9rifier une activit\u00e9 variable sur de nombreuses ann\u00e9es jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 r\u00e9cemment. Le pic d&rsquo;activit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;essaim en 2024 se produira le 17 novembre peu de temps apr\u00e8s de la Pleine Lune (PL le 15 \u00e0 21h28 UTC). On ne sait pas exactement \u00e0 quoi s&rsquo;attendre car la tra\u00een\u00e9e est loin de la com\u00e8te.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence de la Pleine Lune, il est quand m\u00eame conseill\u00e9 d&rsquo;observer les L\u00e9onides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>D&rsquo;autres pr\u00e9visions<\/strong>&nbsp;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maslov souligne que le maximum \u00ab normal \u00bb sera relativement fort (ZHR 15\u201320 le 17 novembre 2024, 04h TU).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Les calculs de <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/J%C3%A9r%C3%A9mie_Vaubaillon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vaubaillon<\/a> montrent que la Terre rencontre la tr\u00e8s ancienne tra\u00een\u00e9e de la com\u00e8te m\u00e8re 55P\/Tempel-Tuttle le 14 novembre \u00e0 16h37m TU.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sato trouve une rencontre avec la tra\u00een\u00e9e de 1733 les 19 et 20 novembre 2024 \u00e0 23h53m et 00h54m UT, respectivement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">La \u00ab&nbsp;temp\u00eate&nbsp;\u00bb de 1833<\/span><\/strong> :<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Les recherches de textes anciens effectu\u00e9es par <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Edward_Claudius_Herrick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Edward C. Herrick<\/a> en 1841, par <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hubert_Anson_Newton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hubert Anson Newton<\/a> en 1864, puis en 1958 par Susumu Imoto et Ichiro Hasegawa, aupr\u00e8s de sources chinoises, japonaises et cor\u00e9ennes, et plus r\u00e9cemment par <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Donald_K._Yeomans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald K. Yeomans<\/a> et <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gary_W._Kronk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gary W. Kronk<\/a>, ont mis en \u00e9vidence de nombreuses traces de pluies m\u00e9t\u00e9oritiques,&nbsp;attribu\u00e9es aux L\u00e9onides, dont la plus ancienne remonte \u00e0 l&rsquo;an 901.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais l&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat pour cet essaim, produisant de spectaculaires pluies de m\u00e9t\u00e9ores, a surtout d\u00e9but\u00e9 peu apr\u00e8s la grande temp\u00eate de 1833.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;une des plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bres temp\u00eates de m\u00e9t\u00e9ores s&rsquo;est en effet produite dans la nuit du 12 au 13 novembre 1833, lorsque la Terre croisa l&rsquo;essaim des L\u00e9onides. Ce jour-l\u00e0, des nombreux observateurs de la c\u00f4te Est des Etats-Unis et de la r\u00e9gion des Chutes du Niagara, virent surgir des centaines de m\u00e9t\u00e9ores par minute, soit environ 50.000 \u00e0 200.000 m\u00e9t\u00e9ores par heure, semblant provenir de la r\u00e9gion de la constellation du Lion (Leo). Ainsi en novembre 1866, au cours de la nuit du du 13 au 14, une nouvelle pluie importante de m\u00e9t\u00e9ores s&rsquo;abattit sur notre plan\u00e8te, confirmant ainsi la p\u00e9riodicit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;essaim. Il \u00e9tait maintenant \u00e9vident que l&rsquo;essaim revenait tous les 33 ans, mais restait \u00e0 en trouver l&rsquo;origine !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">La d\u00e9couverte d\u2019une com\u00e8te par Tempel et Tuttle<\/span><\/strong> :<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Le voile fut lev\u00e9 par la d\u00e9couverte d&rsquo;une com\u00e8te de magnitude 6, le 19 d\u00e9cembre 1865 par <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ernst_Wilhelm_Tempel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel<\/a> (1811-1889), mais \u00e9galement par <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Horace_Parnell_Tuttle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Horace Parnell Tuttle<\/a> le 6 Janvier 1866. La com\u00e8te fra\u00eechement d\u00e9couverte, et aujourd&rsquo;hui d\u00e9nomm\u00e9e 55P\/Temple-Tuttle, fut visible pendant plusieurs semaines. Le calcul des \u00e9l\u00e9ments orbitaux montrait une grande similitude avec ceux de l&rsquo;essaim, et confirmait la paternit\u00e9 de cette com\u00e8te pour l&rsquo;essaim m\u00e9t\u00e9oritique des L\u00e9onides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;influence perturbatrice de Saturne et de Jupiter, en agissant sur la partie la plus dense de l&rsquo;essaim, fit que l&rsquo;averse suivante, pr\u00e9vue en 1899 n&rsquo;eut pas lieu. Toutefois, l&rsquo;essaim se manifesta de nouveau en 1901 mais le nombre de m\u00e9t\u00e9ores observ\u00e9s ne fut pas exceptionnel. Le retour suivant, en 1932 fut encore plus d\u00e9cevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En revanche, en 1966, en raison de nouvelles perturbations, l&rsquo;on vit quelques 150.000 m\u00e9t\u00e9ores par heure \u00e0 l&rsquo;ouest des Etats-Unis et au Mexique. Ce retour de pluie m\u00e9t\u00e9oritique co\u00efncide avec la red\u00e9couverte de 55P\/Tempel-Tuttle qui s&rsquo;\u00e9tait fait plut\u00f4t discr\u00e8te depuis sa d\u00e9couverte 100 ans auparavant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow
